That range is wide enough to be almost useless on its own, which is the problem with most price guides. The number that matters is not the average — it is what your particular treatment, at your particular length, at your particular tier of spa, is going to come to once everything is added up.

The honest summary: price in Da Nang buys privacy, inclusions and therapist experience far more than it buys technique. A 350,000 VND massage in a curtained bay on Hoàng Sa can be excellent. What it will not include is a room with a door, a shower afterwards, hot stones, or a car to your hotel.
Different treatments carry genuinely different costs to deliver, and the menu reflects that. Thai massage takes more physical work from the therapist than an oil massage. Four-hand costs roughly double because it occupies two therapists for the full hour.

This catches people out in a good way. Spas price longer sessions at a discount per minute, because the fixed costs — room turnover, laundry, the foot soak, the therapist's setup and rest — are spent once regardless of length.

The practical read: the second hour is the cheapest hour you will buy. Going from 60 to 90 minutes on an aroma massage adds 150,000 VND — about US$6 — for 30 more minutes of the same treatment. If you are choosing between one 120-minute session and two 60-minute sessions on different days, the single long session costs meaningfully less and most guests report it feels like more than twice the release.

The single biggest source of confusion in Da Nang is not the headline number. It is what the number covers. Two spas can both quote 550,000 VND and deliver visibly different sessions.

That is a deliberate structure — it is not the norm across the city, and it is worth asking any spa which model they use before you book.
Published menu rates in Da Nang are frequently a ceiling rather than a price. Direct-booking and walk-in discounts of 20–30% are common enough that paying the full menu rate usually means you booked through an intermediary who took a margin.

Cash in Vietnamese Dong is the smoothest way to pay for a massage in Da Nang. Card is widely accepted at mid-range and luxury spas, but many pass the processing fee on to the guest, commonly 3–8%. On a 900,000 VND session that is 27,000–72,000 VND you did not plan to spend.

Tipping is not obligatory in Vietnam. No Da Nang spa will pursue you for one, and refusing to tip is not rude. If you were pleased with the session, 50,000–100,000 VND handed directly to the therapist is a normal and well-received gesture — roughly 10–20% at mid-range prices.
Check the bill first. Some spas already include a service charge, in which case an additional tip is entirely at your discretion. Where you do tip, hand it to the therapist directly rather than leaving it at reception — it is more likely to reach the person who did the work, and it is the local convention. Add 30 minutes rather than a second session — it is the best value on any menu in the city. Pay in cash, in dong, and confirm the total before you lie down.
